The new upper stairway at Moul Falls was flown in by helicopter on October 3, 2023 and opened to hikers a few days later. The stairs are a huge improvement for hikers going to the bottom of the falls. This eliminates the second switchback and the badly eroded section of trail where some people were short-cutting. BC Parks thanks Roland and Anne Neave for a generous donation towards the stairs which made the project feasible.

2026 update. A suggested tip — Moul Falls is apparently the most popular short trail in Wells Gray Park. A trail counter has been installed that has recorded 300-400 hikers on sunny summer days. It’s a very busy trail. However, you can avoid the crowds by going early, especially on weekends. Plan to leave the parking area by 9 am. After 12 noon, the bottom of the falls has a lot of people sitting on the rocks, enjoying the spray on a hot summer day.

There is only one outhouse, located at the Moul Falls trailhead parking. Recently, we have noticed toilet paper discarded near the trail because many people can’t wait 3-4 hours to get back to this outhouse. Please carry a plastic bag to hold your used toilet paper, so the trail is not defaced. BC Parks Rangers and volunteers spend lots of time picking up trash along this trail so it is pleasant for others to use. Please help!
