The 2023 Wells Gray trail crew brushed and cleared deadfalls from the lower part of this trail, so the reference on page 332 to the trail being “heavily overgrown” has fortunately changed.

August 25, 2025 update. The 2025 Wells Gray trail crew has built an extension to The Flatiron trail. Ignore the directions on pages 332-333 for a bushwhacking route that starts just past the U-turn bend on the trail. Continue 10 minutes along the trail and watch for a sign to Hemp Falls on your right. Follow this trail for about 15 minutes to Hemp Falls. The last part is a steep downhill to a terrace above the falls. Near here, there is a cross-country route to reach the top of The Flatiron.
